If we give a bit of context, measures of the functional performance of the arm and shoulder are often lacking. Range of motion (ROM) and strength are commonly used to assess upper limb deficiencies but measures based on disabilities do not take into account the complex movements of the upper extremities that are required for activities of daily living, such as hygiene and household chores.
So here we are not necessarily talking about the athlete and this is interesting since most shoulder tests are sports recovery tests for athletes.
What is TFAST?
The TFAST is a set of 3 tests :
- The Hand to Head & Back or HHB
- The Wall Wash
- The Gallon-Jug Lift
This 3-task test is quick to perform, with an average of 5 to 6 minutes per arm, it can easily be integrated into your physiotherapy assessment in the rehabilitation of a patient suffering from shoulder pathology.
